Two significant new flight connections open up Thailand for travellers this summer. From 1 July 2026, Thai Airways resumes nonstop service between Bangkok Suvarnabhumi (BKK) and Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS) — a route the airline had not operated for 28 years — and flydubai launches its first direct service between Dubai World Central (DWC) and Bangkok Don Mueang (DMK).

Thai Airways: Bangkok–Amsterdam Returns

Thai Airways will operate the Bangkok–Amsterdam route daily using Airbus A350-900 aircraft. The last time Thai flew this route nonstop was in the late 1990s, making the resumption a notable milestone for European visitors who have had to connect through Middle Eastern or Asian hubs to reach Bangkok on a single-carrier ticket.

The A350-900 features Royal Silk Business Class with lie-flat seating and a refurbished Economy cabin. Journey time on the route is approximately 11 hours westbound.

For travellers from the Netherlands and wider Northwestern Europe, this is the most direct routing available to Bangkok. Connecting onward flights within Thailand are well-served from Suvarnabhumi through Thai Airways’ domestic partners.

flydubai: Dubai–Bangkok Daily from Don Mueang

flydubai will offer daily service between Dubai World Central and Bangkok Don Mueang. Don Mueang (DMK) is Bangkok’s second airport, located north of the city centre, and is primarily used by budget carriers. The flydubai route gives Gulf-based travellers — as well as those connecting via Dubai from Africa, South Asia, and Eastern Europe — a new low-cost option into Bangkok.

Don Mueang is connected to central Bangkok by the A1 and A2 express bus services and by metered taxi. Journey time to Sukhumvit or the old city is typically 45–60 minutes outside peak hours.

Other Recent Route News

Thailand’s aviation expansion is broader than these two routes. Vietnam Airlines began operating Ho Chi Minh City–Phuket direct service from April 2026 (five flights per week), adding a useful link for travellers combining Vietnam and southern Thailand. Scoot also launched five weekly flights between Singapore and Chiang Rai from January 2026, a welcome addition for those heading to the Golden Triangle region.
