Krabi’s hotel geography is shaped by its coastline — the best beaches are separated by karst headlands, and some require boat access. Here is the practical guide to the main accommodation zones.
Ao Nang: the practical base
Ao Nang is the most developed beach area — a proper town with restaurants, tour operators, rental shops, and the best transport connections. Longtail boats to Railay, Koh Phi Phi ferries, and island-hopping tours all depart from Ao Nang Beach.
Avani Plus Ao Nang Cliff Krabi Resort is one of the best full-service properties in Ao Nang — a clifftop position with infinity pool views over the Andaman, direct access to a small beach, and multiple dining options. Rates approximately ฿5,000–9,000/night as of 2026.
Dusit Thani Krabi Beach Resort at the south end of Ao Nang beach is the most established five-star in the immediate beach area — 238 rooms, a beachfront pool terrace, and the full Dusit service level. Rates approximately ฿4,500–8,000/night.
Ao Nang Cliff Beach Resort is a reliable mid-range choice with pool access and sea views from upper floors. Rates approximately ฿2,500–4,000/night. Good value for the Ao Nang area.
Budget in Ao Nang: guesthouses on the back roads (sois running inland from the beach road) offer clean doubles from ฿700–1,200. Green View Guesthouse and similar small properties are well-reviewed at this price.
Railay: the most dramatic setting
Railay is a headland cut off from the mainland by karst cliffs — the setting is extraordinary, with White sand beaches, climbing routes, and a cave system. It’s a 15-minute longtail ride from Ao Nang.
Rayavadee is the definitive Railay property — 102 pavilion villas set in coconut groves between three beaches. Three restaurants, three pools, a spa, and the most secluded setting of any resort in the Krabi area. Rates from approximately ฿15,000–30,000+/night.
Railay Princess Resort and Spa is a mid-range property on East Railay with a pool and direct beach access. More affordable than Rayavadee with a good location. Rates approximately ฿2,500–4,500/night.
Rock Climbing bungalows (several small properties near the climbing wall on East Railay) offer basic fan-cooled bungalows from ฿600–1,000/night — the budget option for those prioritising the climbing and the setting over hotel comfort.
Klong Muang: quiet and upscale
Klong Muang is 25km north of Ao Nang on a less-visited stretch of coast. The beaches here are long and uncrowded; facilities are limited to hotel restaurants.
Banyan Tree Krabi is the area’s largest luxury property — pool villas in a beachfront setting, full spa, multiple restaurants. Rates from approximately ฿10,000–18,000/night.
Tubkaak Boutique Resort is a smaller and more intimate option — 51 rooms, a beachfront pool, strong food. Rates approximately ฿5,000–9,000/night. One of the region’s most consistently reviewed properties.
The ShellSea Krabi is a newer mid-range resort with a good beach location in Klong Muang. Rates approximately ฿3,500–6,000/night.
Krabi Town: practical and cheap
Krabi Town proper is not a beach destination — it’s the transport hub for ferries to Koh Lanta, Koh Phi Phi, and Phuket. Staying here saves money and gives access to the Night Market food scene.
Pak-Up Hostel is the best-regarded budget option in Krabi Town — rooftop bar, clean rooms, good social atmosphere. Dorms from ฿350; private rooms from ฿900.
Baan Rim Nam on the river has guesthouses with river views for ฿500–900/night. The area around the old town pier has the most character in Krabi Town.
